We
gave our son Jim Jr. his first computer when he was 11 months old! He
was facinated by it -- he would reach to pick up stars and other objects
on the screen... He loved banging on the keyboard! But the mouse
was just too clunky a device for him to use. He liked to hold it and
play with it, but the hand-eye coordination is just too much to ask of an
eleven-month old! Or even a two year old! I tried giving him
a fake mouse and followed his actions with the real mouse... but
I just couldn't keep up with his eratic movements -- and I think he caught
on pretty quickly anyway! |
Then
the solution became obvious -- our son needed a touch screen! I warned
my wife that they were expensive -- it may cost six or seven hundred dollars
or more! It didn't matter -- she wanted it for him anyway! So the
next day I set off for the local Computer Super Store -- and could I find a
touch screen anywhere in that football field of a store? Heck, I couldn't
even find a salesman who knew what I was talking about! They thought I
was crazy. "A touch sceen? Most people use a mouse!" Well
I knew that! Driving home I was a bit discouraged... Was it another dumb
idea...
I came home and started searching the web site. I
found new touch screens would cost what I expected... About $700! But
then I started searching the auction
sites and sure enough found several for sale. I bid on each of
them using techniques I'll tell you about in my free newsletter! Sure
enough, within a day I had the winning bid -- and bought one for less than a
hundred dollars! Including shipping! The picture at the top of the
page shows 17-month-old Jim Jr. playing away using ordinary games for babies
and toddlers -- on his fancy "new" touch screen -- and I put five
hundred dollars I saved into his college fund! Heck at this rate he's
gonna need it sooner than I thought! Oh by the way, I spent the other
hundred dollars I saved on a night out with the wife for our anniversary! All
right -- it ran a little bit over, but it was still the best hundred bucks I
ever saved!
Get your babies and kids onto computers! They will
thank you for it!
